The latest Bollywood movie featuring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif, Bharat has been released worldwide today. It has taken a bumper start at the box office on Wednesday. Upon its release, it has been greeted with good reviews overall. It has also become the widest release for Salman Khan. (Check: Bharat Movie Review.)
Owing to Salman’s stardom and Eid holiday, the film will see further increase as the day progresses. It points towards a huge first day collection for Bharat. That’s a great news for the makers. It has been released on over 4300 screens in India and 1300+ screens overseas.
Besides Bharat, one Hollywood film X-Men: Dark Phoenix has been released. Dark Phoenix is having finding screens in India. On any other date, it would have gotten over 1500+ screens easily. But, this time, it is even struggling to get past 650 screens in India. Salman’s film is made on a budget of around Rs 150 crores.
On Wednesday, on the first day of its release, Bharat has witnessed an amazing occupancy of around 65% on an average as far as the morning shows are concerned. Without any doubt, it did increase in the noon and evening shows. The film registered an average occupancy of 80% throughout the day.
It may have been a hit negligibly due to the India vs South Africa cricket world cup 2019 match.
Based on its morning momentum, Bharat has minted Rs 41.50 cr in India with ease. in fact, it became interesting to see how it would compete against Thugs of Hindostan. Now, it has become the second biggest opener of all times.
Whatever collection, it may make, but it’s unlikely to beat Aamir Khan’s Thugs of Hindostan which made over Rs 50 crores on its opening. However, this film of Salman has the chances to become the second highest opener in Bollywood of all time.
Let’s wait and watch. Being an Eid release, Bharat will be having an 5-days extended weekend. It should be able to collect big on Wednesday, and 1st weekend (Saturday and Sunday). If it kept its pace intact, it should cross the mark of Rs 100 crores in the first days itself. Then, it would mean 150 cr in the first weekend.

But, it will all depend on the film content and cricket world cup 2019. Besides Salman and Katrina, Bharat stars Disha Patani, Sunil Grover, Jackie Shroff, and Tabu in important roles.
