Sushant Singh Rajput and Shraddha Kapoor starrer Chhichhore has been making a good collection at the box office. In the first week (7 days), the Chichore movie managed to collect Rs 68.83 crores. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari (Dangal fame), it is a campus drama made into two parts. (Check: Saaho Collection.)
Apart from Sushant and Shraddha, the film also stars Varun Sharma, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Naveen Polishetty, Saharsh Kumar Shukla, and Tushar Pandey in important roles. Despite getting good reviews from the critics, the flick opened to just an average of Rs 7.32 crores on its first day, September 6.
However, it saw an increase and collected Rs 12.25 cr on Saturday, Rs 16.41 cr on Sunday, Rs 8.10 cr on Monday, Rs 10.05 cr on Tuesday, Rs 7.20 cr on Wednesday, and Rs 7.50 cr on Thursday. Thus, making 7 days total collection to Rs 68.83 crores at the box office. So far, it has surpassed all expectations, estimations, and calculations.
Sushant starrer Chhichhore enjoyed the first week to the fullest, but Ayushmann Khurrana starrer Dream Girl is releasing today, September 13, 2019. It posses a huge threat to the former film. As per the initial reviews, it looks like the audience will love the movie. Ayushmann last appeared in Article 15. It is his first film after winning the National Film Award.
Let’s come back to Chhichhore, it garnered mixed to positive reviews from the critics. However, it was the nostalgia factor attached to the film’s story and the positive word of mouth publicity that did wonders for this directorial of Nitesh Tiwari. The film shows the characters – first in college life and second in their middle ages.
If you are going to compare it with other classic campus dramas like Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander and 3 Idiots, then you should get ready to disappoint yourself. It contains some out of the box and some cliched punchlines that will remind you of your college life with your kamine friends.
Talking all existing competitors and new releases, Chhichhore is going to face a tough time now. The early trends suggest that it will earn somewhere around Rs 4 crores today, on its 8th day (2nd Friday) as its box office collection. The film should touch the mark of Rs 100 crores in the second week.
