It went on to another level that fans were actively counting down the days until the latest chapter. And, it didn’t disappoint as the season 2 finale was an amazing one. The majority of fans watched the second season with the lighting speed, and got captivated with the drama more than before.
So, it turns out to be a good news for the series that it is going to return for a third (and final) season. When it returns, the series will tie up any remaining loose ends as there are many as of now. The first installment of the series released in December 2017. Then, it took a break of a year and half for the second season. It premiered on June 21, 2019. It was the day when Michael aka Mikkel committed suicide to kickstart the chain of events. The character role was well played.
But, when will the third season of Dark premiere? According to the post on Instagram by the show co-creator Baran bo Odar, the filming is going to start soon. Per Odar, they will complete the shoot in four weeks. Doing so will enable them to deliver the final chapter next year. Odar also thanked Netflix for trusting them.
However, no official date has been revealed yet. There are fan theories suggesting that the new batch of episodes will release on June 27, 2020. It’s also the day of the apocalypse/the beginning of the last cycle.
Dark Season 3 theories and plot: What will happen?
Officially, there has been no detail about the final season of the series. However, we still have made some educated guesses based on tidbits revealed to the public.
The existence of alternate realities is now known to us. It is known from the final moment of the second season when someone similar to Martha came and told young Jonas that she is not from the world he knows.
It brought one of the surprising twists in the story. The upcoming season will clear the story, including exactly where the pair have gone. Then, it will become interesting to know how this will affect the narrative and its characters. Maybe, we would get to know the number of alternate realities.
Dark Season 3 cast: Who’s returning?
The cast of Dark is unique in the sense that it’s so large because it shows the variation of every character throughout their lifespan, i.e., from child/teen to middle-aged to elderly. You should also consider the fact that even if one character might have died in one timeline, it doesn’t mean that it has been erased from the existence.
The makers haven’t made any official word on who will return. But, it’s a given fact that we will definitely see Jonas, siblings – Martha and Magnus, Franziska and Bartosz. Elizabeth has survived by keeping himself in the underground bunker, so we will see her in the future.
With her, there was her dad Peter, Ragina, and her mother Claudia, and a young Noah. Katharina also survived the apocalyptic blast as the passage in the Winden caves is once again opened. So, we are expecting to see her again.
But, we will have to wait and watch to see what comes next.
