According to the recently released teaser trailer for the upcoming Dark’s season 2, it will premiere with all-new episodes on June 21, 2018. The date has significance for Jonas. It’s the date when Michael Kahnwald committed suicide and left a message for his son Jonas which started the series.
If you have watched the first one, you will recall it and also understand why we are being a bit cagey the names and family relations here. You can believe it to happen as an incident, or perhaps it’s a deliberate attempt. The streaming giant Netflix hasn’t commented officially anything about the release date of the Chernobyl disaster (April 26).
The timing seems telling as the nuclear plant in Winden is going to play a significant role in the events of Dark. The filming for Dark second season started in June 2018.

Dark Season 2 Plot: What’s going to happen?
The starting of he second season’s trailer for Dark reads, “Welcome to the future.” Jonas traveled back into a post-apocalyptic wasteland at the end of Dark first season. It seems that much of the second season’s time will be invested in understanding what happened to precipitate the ‘apocalypse’ of 2052.
It was hinted during the first installment’s climax. So, it becomes interesting to see if there is anything that can stop it from happening. The characters are interlocked throughout time. The mysterious Noah seeks to control and re-write the whole hisory and future of humanity.
Perhaps, we would get to know the answers to the unanswered questions in this confounding series. Showrunners Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese have confirmed that the second installment will consists of a total 8 episodes. It will include new characters and new time levels, both in the past and the future.
