Ayushmann Khurrana starrer Dream Girl has completed its first week at the box office today. In the first 6 days, it has made a collection of Rs 66.15 cr. It is aiming to finish the week by collecting around Rs 75 cr. If the movie gets successful in garnering this much amount, it will turn out to record breaker for the actor.
Directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa, Dream Girl has been proving to be an unstoppable film at the BO. The trailer and its songs made a buzz among the audiences for the film. So, when it released on September 13, 2019, the movie-goers came out in large numbers. It opened to mixed to good reviews from the critics.
On its opening day, Dream Girl made a collection of Rs 10.05 crores, followed by Rs 16.42 cr on Saturday, Rs 18.10 cr on Sunday, Rs 7.43 cr on Monday, Rs 7.40 cr on Tuesday, and Rs 6.75 cr on Wednesday. It crossed the 50 cr on its first Monday, and is looking forward to surpass the 75 cr mark within the first week.
Its 6 days total collection has reached to Rs 66.15 crores. Ayushmann plays the role of Karam who can’t find a job despite being educated. He is gifted with a unique talent of talking in a woman’s voice. So, for the sake of earning bread and butter, he accepts to play female characters in local mythological plays.
In a while, Karam gets to know about a job in a call center, but there was a catch. It was that only women are required and hired for that job. So, he adopts a fictional name of Pooja. Thus, it adds a lot of spice and fun. The story includes out-of-the-box punches and desi-puns which are sufficient to make audience laugh out loud.
Besides Ayushmann, the film stars an array of versatile and talented actors like Annu Kapoor, Abhishek Banjerjee, Rajesh Sharma, Vijay Raaz, Nidhi Bisht, and Nushrat Bharucha among others. All the actors have done justice to their roles/characters. Annu plays Karam’s father Jagjeet while Vijay has impressed with his comic timing as Sasta Ghalib.
Dream Girl has got a positive word of mouth from the audiences which has helped the film to uplift its business. It is being highly praised for its genre. Set in a small town, the film serves a typical tier 2 city on a single platter. The film appears to be steady in its first weekdays.

Speaking of its 7th day occupancy report, the film Dream Girl has registered an opening occupancy of about 15-16% in the morning shows. It was about 17-18% on Wednesday, yesterday. It is just a drop of about 10% which is acceptable. The first week total of the film will be around Rs 72 crores.
It will be interesting to see if the film has attain the status of a SUPER-HIT or blockbuster or not in its entire life time run.
