Dream Girl starring Ayushmann Khurrana in the lead role has been doing a fantastic box office collection since its opening. In the first 7 days, it has managed to collect a total of Rs 72.20 crores. On its 8th day (2nd Friday), Sanjay Dutt starrer Prassthanam has released which will give it a tough competition.
Dream Girl has enjoyed its dream run so far. It will be interesting to see how it fares as today three new films (Pal Pal Dil Ke Pass starring Sunny Deol’s son, Prassthanam, and The Zoya Factor starring Sonam Kapoor) have been released. Ayushmann’s film crossed the mark of Rs 50 cr on its first Monday.
It still seems in no mood of slowing down. The film has performed very well even on its 1st weekdays. It collected Rs 7.40 cr on Tuesday, Rs 6.75 cr on Wednesday, and Rs 6.05 cr on Thursday. The Sonam and Dulquer starrer may give it a tough competition. However, going by the past record of Ayushmann’s movies, Dream Girl is expected to do well despite new releases.
Audience has been loving DG as the movie-goers are getting to see Ayushmann in a unique avatar in the film. The film’s crackling comedy and the word of mouth are helping the movie to earn big time. The actor has played the role of a man who can speak in woman’s voice.
Upon its release, Dream Girl was welcomed with mixed to good reviews from the critics. However, the numbers are still in favor of the film despite garnering mixed reviews. Apart from Ayushmann, DG also stars Nushrat Bharucha, Annu Kapoor, Manjot Singh, Vijay Raaz, Abhishek Banerjee, and Nidhi Bisht among others.
Annu Kapoor and Ayushmann were last seen together in Vicky Donor (2012). Dream Girl’s brilliant performance at the box office has added another feather to Ayushmann’s cap. Speaking of Dream Girl’s 8th day, it has registered an average occupancy of around 15% in the morning shows.
