Ranveer’s latest film Gully Boy opened with a bang at the box office. On its 1st day, it made a collection of whopping Rs 18.70 cr. It released on February 14, Valentine’s Day. The Zoya Akhtar directorial is the first movie for Ranveer and Alia together. It has rocked the metros and became the 2nd highest opener for the ‘Simmba‘ actor.

On its opening day, it recorded massive footfalls and kept the ticket counters clicking. Without being an official holiday, Valentines Day provided a big boost to the film. The highest opener for Ranveer has been the 2018 release Simmba which collected Rs 20.72 cr on its opening, followed by Gully Boy (Rs 19.40 cr), Padmaavat (Rs 19 cr), and so on.

Gully Boy has indeed taken a promising start. Now, the wait is when (in how days) it will be able to cross the mark of 100 cr. Alia Bhatt has registered her first Rs 100 cr film with Raazi’s box office success. While, Ranveer has more to his kitty including films like Padmaavat, Bajirao Mastani, Ram Leela, etc. that has earned more than 100 crores each.

Upon its release, Gully Boy has garnered positive reviews from the film critics, especially the acting of Ranveer Singh has been critically acclaimed in this film. Alia Bhatt, too, has received appreciation for her supporting yet crucial role. The flick has got a clear week to collect the maximum money as there is no major release for a while.

It will face competition from the multi-starrer comedy film Total Dhamaal that is releasing on February 22, Friday.

Now, let’s come to the 2nd day collection of Gully Boy. It’s clear that Friday (today) is just a normal working day. So, it has witnessed a considerable drop in occupancy. The drop is inevitable. As far as the morning shows occupancy is concerned, it registered about 23-24% footfalls, while it was around 45% on Thursday.

The occupancy rate will increase as the day progresses. It will be the highest in the late evening shows. The good news for the film is that the word of mouth is positive.
