Gully Boy starring energetic Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt got a splendid start at the box office. The Bollywood film released on Valentine’s Day, and earned a whooping Rs 19.40 crores on a normal working day. But, then faced an expected heavy drop on its 2nd day (Friday).

The film did slow down yesterday, but was still able to collect Rs 13.10 crores. Gully Boy 2 days total collection now stands at Rs 32.50 crores. This film is now the highest opener for Alia while second highest for Ranveer. Ranveer’s last film Simmba had opened to a collection of Rs 20 crore.

Gully Boy has an extended weekend ahead, and can earn more moolah during this period. It is faring well in the metro cities while being just good in mass circuits (tier-2 cities). According to the trade analysts, the movie should witness substantial growth on its 3rd and 4th day, i.e., in its 1st weekend.

The film directed by Zoya Akhtar is the first film in which Ranveer and Alia are sharing the on-screen space together. With its release, the Gully Boy got the advantage of the Valentine week 2019. The business will definitely increase over the first weekend as it has received good reviews and positive word of mouth.

As per the expectations, Gully Boy’s 1st weekend collections should reach somewhere around Rs 80 crores. The story is based on an aspiring rapper Murad played by Ranveer, who becomes a well-known rapper after winning a rap contest and a cash prize. The flick is inspired by the lives of rapper Divine and Naezy.

Alia plays the role of Ranveer’s hot headed girlfriend who wants to become a surgeon. She also has her share of struggles. Ranveer’s last film Simmba became the highest grosser of 2018 by collecting over Rs 240 crore at the domestic box office. Alia’s Raazi collected Rs 123 crore at the home turf.

Speaking of the 3rd day collection of Gully Boy, the film has witnessed a considerable growth over Friday, but still less than Thursday’s numbers. Its morning shows occupancy rate was registered to be around 38-40% on an average. It was 23-24% on Friday and around 45% on Thursday.

The occupancy will increase as the day progresses. As per the initial trend, Gully Boy should do well in 4-5 major metro cities and be decent in rest of the India. It is fantastic start. However, the numbers can go really up if it gets fantastic trending on both the days – Saturday and Sunday.

As per the early estimates, Gully Boy was able to collect Rs 18.5 crores on its 3rd day at the box office. It made its 3 days total collection to around Rs 51.5 crores (updated).
