It has been about eight long years since the show’s first season first aired & the fans are anticipating a second season, which sadly seems to be very unlikely for the show. Also famous/known as the ‘Apocalyptic Academy: High School of the Dead’ is a super popular Japanese anime focused on horror theme. (Check: Demon Slayer Season 2.)

The show has got an identical name, Japanese manga “Gakuen Mokushiroku Haisukūru obu za Deddo” which is written by Satou Daisuke & illustrated by Shouji Satou. The names are the same as the anime series has been inspired and adapted from the manga with the same name.

Highschool of the Dead Season 2 Release date: When will it premiere?

All of us are curious to check the latest update on the show’s renewal date. I can’t wait to catch up with the hit shows again. During the debut, it came into the glam light among the manga lovers. Though, the show got attacked by some problems. During the first come-up, the show got a huge positive response from the audience.

Since the end of the first season, everyone has been waiting to hear updates on the next season. Sadly, the manga show creator left the show in the middle after his death in 2017. Then onward the show is not finished. It’s because he couldn’t get it to finish the manga. There is scarcity of the source material.

However, you shouldn’t lose all the hope as there could be a new writer for the show. Probably, that’s why the audience is waiting to catch up with the show’s new writer. As per the expectations, the release date of season 2 should premiere by the end of 2021 or the beginning of 2022.

Its source manga

Firstly published on August 9, 2006, the new volumes of the manga were being published up till April 9, 2013, the story has been already shortlisted up for an anime show in between its lifespan.

The anime was published in Fuji Shobo’s Monthly Dragon Age starting from September of 2006 till May in 2013. The work was not even finished that the writer of the manga Daisuke Sato passed away in 2017.

Fuji Shobo & Kadokawa Shoten published seven Tankobon volumes of the latter manga, beginning of March 2007 to April 2011 in Japan. Also, the Yen Press focuses his efforts to publish the Anime series for the audience in North America.

The manga initially was first adapted into an anime in 2011. All credits to the fans who liked it that it got so famous that it is even regarded as one of the most popular Television Anime Series to date. Unfortunately, the anime could not manage a second season for now due to the presence of a lot more impressive anime series out there.

The very first season of the anime premiered on 5 July in 2010 whereas the finale episode aired during 20 September in the same year. Also, in the same year, one special episode with the original video animation for the ‘HIGH SCHOOL OF THE DEAD’ was released out there for its fans.

Sadly, since then, there seems to be possible that there has been no fresh development work for the latter anime or the manga, but the fans still seem to be waiting very eagerly for quite a few years to hear anything referring or related to the second season.

Is there any chance to catch up with the second season soon?

The creators of the series have taken their step back from continuing with the series anymore. As a result, the anime series will be continued with the US-based network. Due to the incidental misfortune with the creator’s death in 2017, there came a stop on the show. Though, fans hadn’t lost their hope yet!

Everything we know about the next season

The following are the details we know about it so far.

Season 1 of the show ended with a final note hinting towards at more seasons. Though it seems to be very unlikely that we would get to feast our eyes on more further seasons. The source material for the anime i.e. the manga’s writer Satou Daisuke passed away in a very unfortunate incident that occurred in 2017 & left the manga’s next phase hooked in the middle unsettled & unfinished.

On the other hand, there are also probabilities that a fresh writer might be appointed to resume writing the manga for the show. As of now, it seems to be something which I would like to term as an ‘unreliable fact’. Therefore, the calculated guesses should point towards no comeback of the show. Nevertheless, if the makers of the show plan to re-release it, it is gonna be somewhere between 2020 & 2021. Fingers-crossed & we are alert to hear anything related that shows up & we will update this section ASAP. So stay tuned for the latest buzz about the latter show.

Premise based storyline of the anime

The story revolves around a devastating apocalyptic catastrophe that ultimately results in the revival of the dead. After a mysterious, lethal disease starts taking over people in Japan, a Zombie tsunami-like outbreak starts taking over the globe. As a result, more & more people began dying on a larger scale & finally turning into zombies. The number of alive humans witnesses a very rapid rate of fall whereas the disease tightens its grip over the population & continues hitting them at an ever-rising pace. The anime highlights the life & interaction of a group of youngsters who put their every effort protecting themselves as well as each other & therefore, beating & surviving the apocalypse.

In the course of the action of this catastrophic tragedy, when the terror of the latter disease reaches the Fujimi High School in Japan, amongst one of the students of the school, Takashi Komuro in order to save himself is left with no choice but to stab & murder his best friend after the latter boy gets bitten by the disease through the bite of the zombies & gets added to the army of the dead.
