After John Wick 3, it’s time for its sequel. The next film, chapter 4, in the franchise has got a release date. It is going to premiere on May 21, 2021, two years after the latest movie. The announcement was made by Lionsgate via a text message to fans that read: “You have served. You will be of service”. (Check: The Good Doctor.)
However, there has been no other detail regarding the chapter 4 of John Wick. John Wick 3 – Parabellum had witnessed an amazing opening box office weekend in North America with a collection of $56.8 million. In the third film, Keanu Reeves portrays a dog-loving, ex-hitman on the run from assassins.
He is on the run because he killed a member of the covert international assassion’s guild, the High Table. The first film of the franchise premiered in 2014 and grossed a little under $90 million, while the second film which released in 2017 minted $172 million in its lifetime run.
And the third film has collected $36 million overseas, making a total of $93 million in total in its first weekend at the box office. It has out-paced the last flick in such a short period of time. In the 3rd film, Wick returned with a whopping $14 million price tag on his head, and an army of bounty-hunting killers on his trail.
The franchise simply started as a simple revenge story in which Keanu Reeves started shooting up a lot of bad guys as one of them killed his dog. Now, it has turned into a universe of its own.
John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum does open up the gates for its future. However, Stahelski had advised fans not getting too excited about the future of dog-loving assassin. You should think of his past, what he has done, what he has been upto, what’s going to happen, and what can happen next.
It may not turn out to be a happy ending.
Stahelski said that even John may survive all this shit, but there may not be a happy ending to the story. It’s because he has left nowhere to go. In an interview, he even asked the fans about how should he put an end to it, and what is that the fans want. So far, he has killed over 300 fucking people.
Is he going to walk around just like that? How is this guy’s day going to end? Because he is fucked for the rest of his life. Now, it’s just a matter of time. Well, there may be some more room for the cute little puppies to shin, but there will be more assassins for sure.
