Manikarnika – The Queen of Jhansi co-directed and acted by Kangana Ranaut has already cross the milestone of Rs 50 crore at the domestic box office. By the end of 5th day, its collection stands to a total of Rs 52 crores after collecting Rs 4.75 cr on Tuesday, yesterday. Released on a day before Republic Day of India, the film has managed to earn Rs 42 cr on its first weekend.

As per the reports, the movie’s business seems divided as in some regions are holding it pretty well whereas it’s not performing well in some circuits. Though it got a sluggish start on Friday, the big national holiday boosted its collections to a whole new level. The film has been released in three languages simultaneously – Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.

There have been reports from the trade analysts suggesting that business done by Manikarnika has been average, keeping its big budget in mind. Made on a huge budget of more than Rs 100 crore, it is a biopic movie made on the life of great Indian freedom fighter – Rani Lakshmi Bai. Despite odds against her, she fought for India’s independence till her last breath.

We are expecting it to cross Rs 60 cr mark in the first week at the box office. The upcoming days, especially the 2nd weekend, will be its litmus test. It will be interesting to see if it can hold well against new releases or not. To earn back the invested amount, the film needs to fare well for two weeks, atleast.

Before its release, Manikarnika has been through its fair share of controversies – the morale fight with the Karni Sena, and between the co-directors Krish and Kangana. Krish said that Kangana and the film producer Kamal Jain removed him in an inappropriate way. There are also rumors that say Krish left the movie because of Karni Sena’s threats. Moreover, supporting actor Mishti Chakraborty has slammed Kangana for shortening her role in the film.

Vicky Kaushal starrer Uri: The Surgical Strike has been faring well in its 3rd week and collected Rs 3.32 cr on Tuesday making its total collection to Rs 164.10 cr in India. Also, the same day release as of Manikarnika, Thackeray starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui has managed to get a stronghold in Marathi market. It has earned close to Rs 30 cr in six days.

Kangana’s magnum opus Manikarnika has minted $2 million from international markets which converts to Rs 14.5 cr approximately. Speaking of its 6th day collection, Manikarnika witnessed its morning shows occupancy rate to be similar to Tuesday’s figures. Overall, ithas managed to collect Rs 3.75 cr today that its total box office collection to Rs 55.75 crores.
