Kangana Ranaut starrer Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi has earned more than Rs 50 cr at the box office in the first 5 days of release. It has turned out to be a clear winner in the clash. Thackeray starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui has managed to do a collection close to Rs 30 crore by the end of Tuesday. Both the films suffered a drop today. (check: Manikarnika fifth day collection.)

The movies – both of them are biopics. Manikarnika tells the life story of Jhansi Ki Rani Lakshmi Bai – how she grew up and what sacrifices she made in her quest to make India free of Britishers. It has maintained a stronghold in the North Indian markets like Delhi-NCR, UP, Punjab, and Rajasthan. (check: Thackeray Tuesday collection.)

On the other hand, Thackeray is based on the life of Shiv Sena founder and Maharashtraian leader Bal Thackeray. Besides Nawazuddin, it stars Amrita Rao as his wife Meena Thackre. It was released two languages – Hindi and Marathi. Its Marathi version has shown a stronghold in Marathi speaking regions.

On Friday, Manikarnika earned Rs 8.75 cr, followed by a collection of Rs 18.10 cr, Rs 15.70 cr, and Rs 5.10 cr on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday respectively. It has also minted over $1.55 million which converts to around Rs 11.03 cr in the first three days. The overseas collection is being calculated for the exact figures.

While, Thackeray opened to collecting Rs 6 cr on Friday. Then, it went on to collect Rs 10 cr on Saturday, Rs 6.90 cr on Sunday, and Rs 3.5 cr on Monday. Its Hindi version is struggling, but Marathi one is doing a great business. The film is being appreciated for the Nawazuddin’s portrayal of Bal Thackeray.

On their releases, both of the films – Thackeray and Manikarnika received mixed reviews for the overall film from the film critics. But, they have garnered a positive word of mouth from the audiences. On one hand, Manikarnika is made on a huge budget of over Rs 100 cr and on the other hand, Thackeray is made on a limited budget of Rs 30 cr.

Speaking of 5th day collection, Manikarnika and Thackeray have witnessed a little drop compared to yesterday’s figures. Still, they should earn close to Rs 5 cr and Rs 3 cr respectively, on their 1st Tuesday. However, the exact numbers will be updated on Wednesday morning. Let’s see if they would be able to sustain in the coming days.

As far as morning occupancy is concerned, Manikarnika’s morning shows occupancy was registered to be around 14%.
