Akshay Kumar is going to break his own previous record with his new movie Mission Mangal at the box office. MM is all set to break the record of 2018 superhit film 2.0 (Hindi version). 2.0 has been his highest grosser so far. In its lifetime run, it made a collection of Rs 189.55 cr. As per the trend, it looks that Mission Mangal will surpass this record by the end of 3rd weekend. Soon enough, it will emerge as Akshay Kumar’s career highest grosser. It hit the theaters on this Indian Independence Day, August 15, 2019. On its 16th day of release, MM was able to collect only Rs 2 crore.
On Day 17, the weekend’s total sums up to around Rs 187 crore. Its business was affected after the release of Prabhas and Shraddha starrer Saaho which collected Rs 24 crores on its 1st day. Overall, Sahoo made over Rs 100 crores on its opening (worldwide gross). Mission Mangal has made Rs 251.16 crore worldwide by this past weekend.
Akshay starrer MM has become the third highest grosser of 2019 after Salman Khan’s Bharat and Shahid Kapoor’s Kabir Singh. If Jagan Shakti directorial MissionMangal crosses the mark of Rs 200 crore then it will become this year’s fourth Bollywood movie to do so after Bharat (Rs 211.07 cr), Uri: The Surgical Strike (Rs 245.36 cr), and Kabir Singh (Rs 278.24 cr).
MM is based on the story of India’s mission to Mars. It was a women-powered-and-women-domination team of scientists at ISRO which made the mission possible. The film features how the team members faced and braved various challenges from finances to weather,a nd even personal problems to achieve the success.

The sci-fi family entertainer is still attracting eyeballs despite Saaho creating havoc at the BO. Very soon, the film will be throwing a challenge to Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (190.03 crores) and 2.0 [Hindi] (188 crores).
