Akhil Akkineni starrer Mr Majnu opened to a decent start at the box office. In the first 2 days, its collection in the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana (AP/TS) state remained steady. It is Akhil’s third movie which released on an ordinary number of screens worldwide on January 25, 2019, a day before Republic Day of India. (check: Simmba box office collection.)

It was one of the most anticipated movies of 2019 and had surrounded itself with lots of hype and expectations. Mr Majnu got a decent figures in terms of advance booking. Though it could not beat the collections of Akhil’s last two films, still it got a good start and collected Rs 4.80 cr on first day at the AP/TS box office.

It was released on a good number of screens and shattered the Hello collection record that earned Rs 4.20 cr on opening. However, if failed to break the record of Akhil: The Power of Jua that had minted Rs 10.10 cr (gross). It may have received mixed reviews from the film critics, but has got a good & positive word of mouth from the audiences.

Akhil Akkineni has received good response from his acting and the movie-goers went gaga over it. People are liking the script, direction, and rich production values of Venky Atluri’s film. As per the expectations of the Tollywood (Telugu film industry) trade experts, the word of mouth will grow and as a result, its collection will grow in the coming days.

As expected, the movie starring Akhil Akkineni and Nidhhi Agerwal remained steady at the box office throughout the first weekend. In fact, it is being reported that the film witnessed 100% occupancy in several theatres in the Telugu states. But, compared to first day, it faced a drop of 23 percent on 2nd day. The reason for it was not having extra early morning shows.

On Saturday, Mr Majnu managed to collect Rs 3.70 cr (gross) at the AP/TS box office, making its two days total to Rs 8.50 cr. In the first two days, the distributors was able to earn Rs 5.80 crores who bought the theatrical rights for Rs 18.20 crores for the Telugu states. As far as its 3rd day collection is concerned, Mr Majnu experienced a little growth on Sunday. As an early estimates, it has minted Rs 4 cr making its first weekend collection total to Rs 15 cr (to be updated).

Akhil is three films old now, in the industry. His first film turned out to be a dud, but his second movie was a HIT and put him back in the business. If his third film becomes successful, it will be a great time in his film career. According to trade analyst Jeevi, Mr Majnu collected $16,521 from 111 locations at the US box office yesterday (26th January). F2 and Petta collected $23,234 from 70 locations and $9,809 from 21 locations respectively.
