Outlander has been renewed for two more seasons – Season 5 and Season 6. The US network Starz has confirmed the same. The tv series has received a very good response following which it has been ordered for two more installments in one go. The show has got an immense success across the world. Caitriona Balfe shared a photo right from the set when the filming for the 5th installment started. She also posted another picture on her Instagram account. She seemed thrilled to announce the two seasons as she had tweeted about the same.

Sam Heughan was already convinced to do the show for two more times. Outlander has been adapted from the book series by Diana Gabaldon. So far, she has written a total of eight novels in the saga of the star-crossed lovers.

The season 4 was based on the fourth novel titled ‘The Drums of Autumn’ in the book series. It featured Jamie Fraser and his wife Claire building a new life for themselves in the New World. The fourth installment had some shocking moment that left one character devastated.

The earlier installments of Outlander have aired at different times of the year. They have premiered in August, April, and September so far. The fourth season aired on November 4, 2018. So, we could expect the fifth one to be airing in autumn 2019.

Outlander Season 5 Cast: Who will return?

Ofcourse, the lead pair will return to reprise their respective roles – Sam Heughan as Scottish hero Jamie Fraser and Caitriona Balfe as his wife Claire Fraser. They were confirmed for the roles when the series was double recommissioned. Sophie Skelton will return as the couple’s daughter Brianna Randall Fraser.

Richard Rankin will play Brianna’s love interest and Oxford history academic Roger Wakefield. Friends star Aishya Tyler will also play a role in the upcoming installment. She was spotted on the set with the lead actors.

What will happen in Outlander season 5? Plot

The fifth season will be based on the fifth novel titled “The Fiery Cross”. In the novel, Jamie and Claire have settled at Fraser’s Ridge in North Caroline and have been living happily with their family. Soon their life shatters as the American Revolution approaches.

Roger romances with Brianna. The two stars who play these characters have confirmed it. We could see fewer sex scenes in the next installment. It’s because some of their steamy scenes were cut in the fourth one too. According to Heughan, there will be a major twist in the series that will leave fans shocked.
