The season 3 of The Dragon Prince has been renewed officially. The studio behind it, Wonderstorm announced the same on March 30, 2019. The renewal news about the Netflix’s hit fantasy cartoon series came at a WonderCon panel. Some posters and a few actual details were revealed. (Check: Euphoria Season 2.)
Until it actually premieres, here’s everything that we know about the Dragon Prince’s season 3 such as its release date, plot, characters, cast, trailer, and others. Before going to read further, you should note that this article may contain spoilers from the second installment.
What news came about The Dragon Prince season 3 at WonderCon?
We did get to learn a few things about what’s going to happen. But, the information was just a handful. As per the CBR report, Dragon Prince co-creator Aaron Ehasz said that the upcoming season is going to be a huge one. He also added that it will break the fans in good and bad ways.
Ehasz didn’t go into much detail, but he did unveil that Callum will disguise himself as an elf in Dragon Prince season 3. It kinda makes sense as he was going to enter into elf territory after crossing the border into Xadia along with Rayla and Azymondias aka Zym, the baby dragon at the end of season 2.
It also sounds like a fun twist on the class Human Rayla disguise that we got to see in the previous seasons. The official Twitter account for the series also shared an animated version of the DP season 3 poster featuring how it was created and edited. On an interesting note, the early versions featured Rayla.
There have been speculations from the fans that Callum’s absence from early versions of the poster could be a bad news for the human prince. You shouldn’t take this image as canonical. Also, you shouldn’t also get too worried about Callum or Rayle for now.
The Dragon Prince Season 3 Release Date: When is the premiere?
As of now, the studio hasn’t revealed any release date for TDP season 3. But, we can estimate when would the premiere be. The first installment premiered on September 14, 2018, and the second one aired on February 15, 2019, i.e., just after five months. So, we can expect the next one to come in or after September 2019.
It sounds like a stressful production schedule, but as per Ehasz the Dragon Prince team is ready for the situation. He also added that the team knows where the story is headed in season 3 and beyond. According to him, they have a clear vision on what they want to do with the story.
They seem to have got a strong appetite or even stronger than the last time. Netflix also appears to be energized as far as this series is concerned. It seems that they are going to move at the best pace they can. At some point, it will catch up to them, then they will have no choice other than to take rest for a while.
He also said that the rush to complete season 2 was as the result of some big cliffhangers of season 1. The season 3 also has a lot of questions to answer based on what happened at the end of season 2.
The Dragon Prince Season 3 Trailer

After it, everyone is just speculating for now. The season 3 can go in various directions from here on.
