Directed by Indra Kapoor, Total Dhamaal film has opened on a fantastic note at the domestic box office despite garnering mixed reviews. It made a collection of Rs 16.50 cr on its 1st day (Friday) of release. On the same day, it registered an average occupancy of 25 percent as far as the morning shows are concerned. Total Dhamaal is now the second highest opener of the year (2019) after last week’s release Gully Boy (Rs 19.40 cr) starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in the lead roles. Going by the numbers, it’s clear that the latest Bollywood movie is up for a great first weekend. It has been released on a total of 3700 screens in India and 786 overseas.

It is the only release of this week. Made on a budget of Rs 105 crore, Total Dhamaal is the third film in the franchise. The first film Dhamaal minted Rs 32.50 crores in 2007, then its sequel Double Dhamaal earned a total of Rs 45.06 crores. The newest film in the franchise has opened well in mass circuits while multiplexes are decent.

The film stars Anil Kapoor, Ajay Devgn, Madhuri Dixit Nene, Arshad Warsi, Javed Jaaferi, Riteish Deshmukh, Sanjay Mishra, Boman Irani, Johnny Lever, Vijay Patkar, Esha Gupta, Sudesh Lahiri, Mahesh Manjrekar, and Sonakshi Sinha. It is of 129 minutes in run time. The characters use all kinds of transport and face hurdles in between to reach their destination.

Speaking of 2nd day collection, Total Dhamaal has opened to a better occupancy today (Saturday) than yesterday. It simply means that the film is trending and will be a definite hit in the coming days. TD is holding small screens pretty well, and even better news is that it has witnessed a big jump in multiplexes.

Movie-goers of all age groups are liking it. It means a jump of around 30-40% on Saturday from Friday. The overall occupancy for the day was like – 33% in the morning shows, 60% in the noon shows, and 75% in the evening shows.

Going by the early trends, it looks like Total Dhamaal will make a total collection of Rs 21 crores on its 2nd day (Saturday) at the box office. The exact report will be updated in a few hours.
