Xiaomi India is going to launch its very first Android Go smartphone – Redmi Go today. It will be made official on March 19, Tuesday. The Chinese tech giant has scheduled a launch event in New Delhi which will start at 12 noon. If you are interested, it will be streamed live on Xiaomi India’s YouTube channel as well as on Twitter.

For the same, the company has sent out invites last week. On those invites, the word ‘GO’ was highlighted in bold. It was then followed by the hashtag #MiForYou. It sort of confirmed that Xiaomi is planning to launch a new smartphone in the Indian market soon.

The launch event will kick off at 12 noon on March 19, 2019. You can watch the live stream online on the official YouTube channel of Xiaomi. Besides YouTube, it will also be livestreamed on Twitter.

Xiaomi Redmi Go Specifications: Features

Redmi Go is going to be an entry-level smartphone running on Google’s Android Go edition. Google has designed this OS platform to smoothly run phones with 1GB RAM or less. It is expected to be made available in three different color variants – blue, black, and red color.

The phone will run on top of Android 8.1 Oreo. It will have customized apps like Gmail Go, Assistant Go, Maps Go, etc. That is, it will come with lite versions of applications, and that will be pre-installed. It is powered by 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor with 1GB RAM and 8GB storage (expandable up to 128GB via microSD card).

The phone will sport a 5-inch HD or 720p screen with a standard 16:9 aspect ratio. It will feature a metallic casing design, has a dual microphone, and bottom-facing speaker. Speaking of camera, it will come with an 8MP rear camera with support for 1080p video recording, HDR, and more features.

The front facing camera will be of 5MP. The smartphone will house a 3000mAh battery, and have support for dual nano-SIM card slots in addition to a microSD card slot.

The smartphone, Xiaomi Redmi Go has already been announced in the European market that starts with a price tag of 80 euros (~Rs 6,500). The same has been launched in Philippines for PHP 3,990 (Rs 5426 approx). So, in India, the price of Redmi Go should be between Rs 5000 and Rs 6000.
