Zero has now entered into its 8th day of run at the box office. With its 2nd Friday of release, the things have become harder as Ranveer Singh’s film Simmba has released on this Friday. It is as if things were not already bad for SRK starrer Zero as it was competing against Kolar Gold Fields. (check: Simba 1st day collection.)
Shahrukh Khan’s movie didn’t receive a warm welcome even from the start as it got mixed reviews from the critics, though critics liked the stars performances but not the story. Then, it faced negative word of mouth. And then, as a result, its business has been dipping at the BO. (check: KGF eighth day collection.)
Zero was able to make the most money on its first Sunday as it minted Rs 20.71 crores. It can’t be considered good for a Khan movie as it had some of the biggest Bollywood names into it. On its opening, it collected Rs 20.14 cr, 18.22 cr on Saturday, 20.71 on Sunday, 9.50 cr on Monday, 12.75 on Tuesday, 6 cr on Wednesday, and 4 cr on Thursday. Thus, it made Rs 91.32 crores (roughly) in its first week of release.
The only sure thing is that things will get tougher for Zero. It’s because of the two reasons (mainly). First of all, its screen count will reduce due to new releases and secondly, a new masala movie starring Ranveer and Sara – two of the most sough-after young actors, has released this Friday.
Zero 8th day collection – Rs 1.52 cr
Zero total collection – Rs. 93 cr (India)
Overseas – $5 million = 35 crores
Worldwide = 150+ cr (gross)
There are expectations that Simmba will rule the box office and even wipe out Zero from the theatres. Only the hardcore SRK-Anushka-Katrina fans and some occasional watchers will watch the film. Directed by Aanand L Rai, the film revolves around a dwarf man, Bauua Singh.
Shahrukh plays Bauua, Anushka plays wheelchair-bound Aafia, and Katrina plays Babita. Besides the three actors, it also stars Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Tigmanshu Dhulia, and Sheeba Chaddha in supporting roles. Apart from them, the film has cameos of around 13 Bollywood superstars.
Stay tuned for zero 8th day collection report.
