Zero is facing stiff competition from Simmba as it enters on its 9th day of business at the box office. Zero’s collection for the first 8 days has been around Rs 84.95 cr (approx). Released on December 21, the movie stars Shahrukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma in the lead roles. It has been directed by Aanand L Rai and produced by Red Chillies Entertainment. It was one of the most anticipated movies of 2018. There was a lot of buzz and speculations among the fans ever since the title of the film was announced. But just after being released, the film failed to grab the eyeballs of the movie-goers and as a result, it was not able to make a significant impact at the box office. Upon its release, it got mixed reviews and slow word of mouth which decided its fate.
Zero faced a huge drop on 2nd Friday (8th day) as it was able to earn only Rs 1 crore or so. In terms of percentage, it is a fall of more than 95% from the opening Friday. The fall can be related to the fact that the circuits which were earning better than others have also come down. The truth is that the content has been totally rejected just like Thugs of Hindostan on Diwali.
In the first eight days, Zero has minted about Rs 85 crores nett from the domestic market. As it is going to be a long weekend, the film can cash the occasion. However, this growth would be pretty irrelevant from this point on. In its further run, the film can earn Rs 8-10 crore more, making its lifetime collections close to 100 crore. However, we doubt that it will cross the mark of 100 cr in India.
The Kannada film, KGF witnessed better collections on day 8 as it continued to earn well in Maharashtra. It was released in Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam at the same time.
