Kang Soo-yeon, the South Korean actress has been admitted to hospital as per the reports. The local authorities suggested cardiac arrest as the reason why she was taken to the hospital in the unconscious state. It happened on Thursday. (check: Weird Al Yankovic Release Date.)

Per the local reports, Kang suffered cardiac arrest at around 5 pm and got unconscious in Gangnam. Thereafter, she was given cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on the way to the hospital where she was admitted. She is undergoing emergency surgery.

The 56-year-old Kang Soo-yeon was born in 1966. She became the first Korean actor to be awarded with the best actress award at a major international film festival. The ceremony happened at the 1987 Venice International Film Festival. She earned for portraying the leading role in the film The Surrogate Woman. It was a directorial venture of renowned Korean director Im Kwon-taek.

It was just the start for Kang as she was awarded another best actress award in 1989. It was the ceremony for the 16th Moscow International Film Festival. She earned it for playing her role in Come Come Come Upward film which was directed by Im too.

Kang’s successful journey continued through the 1990s. She got to perform a number of roles in numerous box office hits, and remained one of the best/top actresses in that period. Kang was also one of the co-executive directors at the Busan International Film Festival from 2015 to 2017.

Kang is to be next seen in her first commercial movie in 10 years. The upcoming sci-fi film, Jung_E is directed by Yeon Sang-ho. The filming has already been completed, and it is set to release on Netflix later in 2022.
