Mohammad Almaru, the father of 17-year-old kid Mia Maro, is finally arrested for beating his daughter to death with a metal pole. It was a classic case of honor killing – A situation where orthodox family members kill someone who speaks against them. The Accused, Mohammad, is arrested and charged with first-degree murder.
Illinois Man Mohammad, a 42-year-old, killed his 17-year-old daughter. Mia Maro was a Tinley Park student found dead inside the house. On Wednesday, May 4, court documents sketched the graphic details of what led up to the teenager’s honor killing. Physical evidence recovered at the crime scene suggested that Mia Maro had been brutally beaten with a metal pole and a rubber mallet.
Upon looking at the court documents, it was revealed that Mia Maro was in the last year of her senior year at Victor Andrew High School. Naturally, like any other American student, Mia Maro was preparing to attend her senior prom on Friday, April 29. While her father, Mohammad, had different plans for her.
Mia Maro informed her friends and family that she had received permission to attend the dance. According to the conversation, her father even picked out the dresses for her to wear to the prom. Later, Mohammad revised his mind the day before the dance and told Mia that he “did not trust her.”
Mohammad Almaru went furious as his daughter Mia Maro requested him to change his mind. Furious in rage, Mohammad decided to take his own daughter’s life by beating her to death. The court documents used a metal pole and a rubber mallet to beat her to death.
As Mia could not connect with anyone, her aunt Linda Almaru began tracking her phone on the day off to find out if she had gone to the prom. “Find My iPhone” traced that Mia’s phone left Tinley Park two times, but she never reached Chicago (Prom Location).

Apparently, Mohammad was an illegal Marijuana dealer. When Linda contacted her sister, Randa and the pair decided they would try to purchase marijuana from Mohammad and find the whereabouts of Mia Maro. Mohammad was quick enough to tell Randa not to tell “anyone that she was coming over,” to their surprise.
Mohammad was quick enough to bring his sons in his support. He texted a photo of the letter in which he had the audacity to blame Mia Maro after beating her to death. In the letter, Mohammad claimed that Mia was “hiding things from him” and that he had to beat her with the iron road to get the information out of her.
Mohammad then snatched her phone and “found things” his daughter had allegedly fibbed about. “I lost my mind, went out of control, and beat the s**t out of her, and accidental (sp) hit her in the head,” Mohammad wrote. “I laid down with her, was unconscious (sp), and woke up to her cold body.”
Mohammad’s wife was also trying to hide the horrifying murder of her daughter. When Randa reached the doorstep, She was told to sit with the Wife, and he went inside the room. Randa took courage and called the authorities.
According to the autopsy report “extensive hemorrhaging and bleeding” was the cause of Mia Maro’s death. Randa was generous enough to setup up a crowdfunding campaign for her niece.
