The real cause of death of Kailia Posey has been revealed by her family. Earlier, we believed that the death reason was a car accident. Recently, the young star of TLC’s Toddlers & Tiaras came into the news for a viral grinning girl meme. Posey died at the age of 16, as shared by her mother, Marcy, on a Facebook post.
Through the social media platform, Marcy Posey Gatterman revealed that Kailia, her teen daughter, passed away. In the same post, she asked everyone to give the family some space and privacy so that they could mourn.
Kailia Posey was featured more than twice on the TLC’s television show. According to her mother, the late-young star started pageant shows when she was three years old. The CBS News confirmed the same. Her mother said the same in a 2016 episode of Toddlers & Tiaras.
In 2012, Posey became even more famous when her iconic grinning face on camera became a well-known meme. It happened when she was just five years old. As listed on the Miss Teen Washington pageant website, the late-teen star wanted to pursue aviation and become a commercial pilot. She attended Lynden High School.
Alongside the aviation dream, Posey continued to work on the pageant circuit as well. In early 2022, Kailia announced that she would like to compete in the Miss Washington Teen USA, which was supposed to happen in February.

TMZ stated that Posey’s family confirmed her death cause. The website reported that the 16-year-old died by suicide. Per her family, despite being a successful teenager with a bright future, Kailia Posey made the rash decision of ending her life.

How Kailia Posey Became A Viral Meme
Once again, Kailia Posey became the star when the Grinning Girl meme went viral on the internet. Her grinning was made into a GIF. In it, she is seen grinning from ear to ear when she was just a child. The meme came into existence when a clip from the reality series Toddlers & Tiaras went viral. She can be seen with her mother in it.
The reality series ran for four years in a row, i.e., from 2009 to 2013. It was about children competing in beauty pageants. They had to impress the judges in order to win a prize. Kailia appeared on the show in 2012 for the very first time. She was just five at that time. The episode titled “California Tropic Arizona” featured her.
