Dave Chappelle attacker who attacked the comedian has been identified as Isaiah Lee, and has been arrested by the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD). The suspect has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon. He attacked the star onstage Tuesday night.

The alleged suspect Lee is believed to have carried a replica gun with a knife blade inside. Chappelle was performing during the Hollywood Bowl when he was attacked by a man. The comedian was performing his standup act for “Netflix Is A Joke.” All of a sudden, an anonymous man attacked him.

Who is Isaiah Lee? Dave Chappelle Attacker

Nothing concrete is known yet about the man who attacked Dave Chappelle. The LAPD also didn’t comment is Isaiah Lee has a prior criminal history. Moreover, nothing was found when California court’s record was searched with Lee’s name and date of birth.

The jail records describe Lee as a black male with black hair and brown eyes, 5 feet 11 inches in height, and weight 140 pounds. According to the respective authorities, Isaiah has been charged a felony, assault with a deadly weapon. His bail has been held on $30,000. As of writing this, no court date was assigned for the case yet.

In the meantime, the New York Post address Lee as a rapper. Upon searching Instagram, an account named Isaiah Lee with username @noname_trapper appears and matches perfectly with the suspect’s description.

On his Instagram account, the suspect is seen wearing the same sweatshirt which he had donned on Tuesday night. In that story, he is seen with his hair up, his hood over his head, and filter of a bloody nose and horns.

Upon searching the same username on YouTube, several videos come out. Most of them are rap videos. In one of them, a man is seen flashing middle finger and standing on police-like vehicle. One of those songs is titled “Dave Chappelle”, and was posted in June 2020.

Isaiah Lee allegedly attacked Dave Chappelle towards the end of comedian’s routine. Busta Rhymes and Jamie Foxx helped Chappelle following the attack. So, he thanked both of them. He said that whenever anyone is in a trouble, Jamie Foxx turns out to be their sheriff.

Why Isaiah Lee Attacked Dave Chappelle?

When Isaiah Lee tried to attack Chappelle, the security guards came into action and overpowered the attacker, thus saving the comedian. As a result, Dave was able to perform his act. Chris Rock was at that place and tried to take out humor out of the situation by asking if the attacker was Will Smith.

The incident took place at about 10:45 pm local time. The Netflix comedy festival started on April 28 and will continue through May 8. TMZ reported that the attacker pointed the gun at Chappelle, but it wasn’t real – a replica. Lee’s booking information says that he was arrested at around 11 pm and booked at 3:30 am.

In March 2022, Rock made fun/joke of the bald head of Jada Pinkett Smith. Smith didn’t like it and slapped Rock. Jada’s bald head is a result of disease called alopecia. On the other hand, Chappelle is trying to forget the incident and not let the attack overshadow the magical moments of the night.

Lee got injured when he attacked Dave. One of the night’s video shows him being loaded into an ambulance.

Chappelle’s representative said that he made record-breaking sales at the Hollywood Bowl. With it, Dave tied with Monty Python for the most headlined shows by any comedian at the Hollywood Bowl. He reached to 70k fans in the first “Netflix Is A Joke: The Festival.”

After the attack, Jamie Foxx and Chris Rock came over and tried and calmed the crowd with humor. After that, Dave called in the last and featured musical guests. They were hip-hop artists Yahiin Bey and Talib Kweli aka Black Star. Both of them performed on the music from their latest album.

The album is titled The First In Nearly 24 Years. They released it on Luminary. Other special guests for the evening included Earthquake, Leslie Jones, Jeff Ross, Sebastian, Jon Stewart, and Michelle Wolf.

Later on, an official statement came from Netflix. The spokesperson said that they care about the creators, and defend their right of stand-up comedies on stage without any fear of violence. However, it’s not known yet why did Isaiah Lee attack Dave Chappelle.
