Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt starrer latest Bollywood movie Gully Boy has hit the screens today, 14th February 2019, i.e., Valentine’s Day. Ranveer’s last film Simmba was a blockbuster hit at the box office. This flick, too, has registered a good opening occupancy in the morning shows.
It looks like Ranveer has come yet again for a money-making spree over the next few weeks. The Zoya Akhtar directorial is going to make good on its day 1 itself. Ranveer’s last movies have been a hit, be it Padmaavat or Simmba. Both the films released in 2018. This time, he has donned a new avatar of Mumbai’s Murad, a character loosely based on rapper Divine.
Padmaavat ended the year becoming the highest grosser by collecting over Rs 300 crore. It was directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Then, the Rohit Shetty’s directorial Simmba minted Rs 250 crore. And now, Ranveer has started the new year (2019) with Gully Boy.

It is entirely possible that Gully Boy collection may not be able to touch those heights. It’s because the film is a niche based, but it would definitely be able to add as one more hit in the actor’s kitty. As per the reports, the film has registered an average occupancy of around 40% in major cities across India as far as the morning shows are concerned.
If the occupancy has been 40 percent in the morning, it will definitely increase as the day proceeds. Some people may have holiday today, being Valentine Day. So, it would definitely not be a regular working day. The advance booking for Gully Boy has been good in the metro cities. So, the film should open in double digits.
As per the expectations, the first day collection of Gully Boy should be in the range of Rs 12 crore to Rs 15 crores. But, speaking of the extended Valentine weekend ahead, it could do wonders. So, it’s clear that the film will pick up pace in the coming days. And if it gets the positive word of mouth, it would be awesome for the film.
It’s the first time when Ranveer and Alia have shared the on-screen space together. Alia Bhatt has set herself as a versatile actress with her last films like Raazi and Udta Punjab. Both the young stars have increased the star power of the film.

Gully Boy also marks the Bollywood debut of Siddhant Chaturvedi. He has played the role of a young cricketer battling against corruption around the sport in Amazon Prime Original- Inside Edge.
It’s already known that Gully Boy’s music has already become a hit. There is no competition for the film at the box office. It is another good news for it. Uri has started to show signs of slowing down. There has been no other big release of past making a massive impact.
But, Gully Boy will soon face competition from Total Dhamaal which is going to release on February 22.
