Kangana Ranaut’s magnum opus – Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi – has seen a bit of increase in the momentum at the box office. By the end of its 9th day in business, the film’s collection stands at a total of Rs 69.90 cr combining of all three versions – Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu. The movie faced a drop on second Friday, then saw a little increase on Saturday and Sunday. (Check: Splitsvilla 11 winner.)

The actress, Kangana became an accidental director with this flick as the director Krish who was hired to helm the film, left it in the mid-way. Manikarnika collected Rs 3.50 cr on 2nd Friday, followed by Rs 5.25 cr on 2nd Saturday. The film was released in a total of three languages to cater the need of majority of Indian population.

The film saw its best collections on the occasion of Republic Day national holiday. On that day, it earned Rs 18.10 cr. It was its highest single day earning. It also became the highest single day earner ever by a female-driven film. Upon its release, Manikarnika garnered mixed reviews from the film critics, but it attracted positive word of mouth from the audiences.

To earn more than the invested amount, the film has to keep up the pace or increase it to become a hit as it has been made on a whopping budget of Rs 125 cr approximately. Besides Kangana, it stars Ankita Lokhande and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub among others. The movie is based on the life of Rani Lakshmi Bai, an important personality in the Indian freedom struggle history.

In the period drama, Kangana plays Jhansi Ki Rani while Ankita has played the role of Jhal Kari Bai, one of the major supporters of the Queen Lakshmi Bai. Since its inception, Manikarnika has been through a lot of controversies including Sonu Sood leaving the film, script credits, threats from Karni Sena, etc.

Speaking of its 10th day collection, Manikarnika observed a similar trend on 2nd Sunday as yesterday. It registered a similar occupancy rate in the morning shows as of 2nd Saturday. So, it should collect Rs 5.50 cr today. The exact numbers will be updated post mid-night. It’s collection should touch the mark of 75 cr by the end of 2nd weekend.
