The season 2 of No Game No Life anime has become one of the most awaited installment in the recent times. The fans are eagerly waiting and are anxious for NGNL season 2 to arrive. With its first season, No Game No Life earned a huge appreciation and a positive response from both the critics and the viewers. Just after its premiere, it became a commercial success for the production studio. It has been nearly 5 years since its inception. The delay has been adding various mysterious about the next in the series.

This anime series has been adapted from the Japanese light novel series with the same name written by Yu Kamiya. The first season of the anime premiered on April 9, 2014, and Tokyo MX’s AT-X published it in Japan. Crunchyroll published the English simulcast in North America.
The first installment consisted of a total of 12 episodes. Just like other game based anime like Sword Art Online and Log Horizon, it turned out to be an immediate success in the anime world. Its story revolves around the life of two siblings named Sora (18) and Shiro (11), the first being a male and the second being a female.
These two characters have impressive gaming skills, and have maintained an unbeaten gaming identity named Blank. One fine day, the duo gets a challenge from the God of Games called Tet, for a chess competition. When they played it, they won the game. On their success, Tet granted them a chance to go to a world named Disboard.
In Disboard, everything appears with games. Initially, both the players took it as a game and agreed to the proposal presented by Tes. However, both of them have to defeat the sixteen ruling species in Disboard to keep up with their gaming reputation. The first installment had an open ending. The season 2 of NGNL has many questions to answer.
NGNL Season 2 Updates
As confirmed by an insider, the production studio has been working on No Game No Life season 2. So, the fans can believe that they are making progress on the anime slowly but surely. However, there has been no official update regarding the second installment of the series.
There has been a theory that Madhouse which produced the first season doesn’t normally work on their second seasons. But, we can see that Madhouse has worked on Overlord season 2, 3, and 4. It simply means that even if didn’t use to work on further installments, it has started to take more seasons of their animes.
The studio seems busy as it has been working upon a movie titled No Game No Life: Zero. Earlier, it was scheduled to be released in Summer 2017. This anime film adaption is based on the sixth book of the light novel series.
Now, it simply means that the studio will take it up eventually. In the light novel series, there are 10 books in total. Out of those 10, the first five have already been used to create the first season and the anime film using the 6th novel. The creators are still left with 4 more volumes to work upon.
The left-over 4 volumes still have enough content to produce an amazing anime season and finish the story. The delay in the production could be the result of the anime movie. The anime is still a great business for them as the audience is spread out broadly around the globe. All of them are expecting another amazing installment.
The critics didn’t appreciate the anime production as expected. It’s because they criticized the state of the anime adaption. As of now, the Madhouse studio has got many open-ended plans. The light novel series of No Game No Life is still running and we may even get to see a new book in the future soon enough.
It will indirectly help the anime creators with the content for the second installment of No Game No Life.
No Game No Life Season 2 Release Date
Officially, we don’t have a specific date yet. But, the manga/light novel series is being worked upon. So, we are going to get a new book soon which will indirectly help the production studio as far as the content is concerned. The fans are anxiously waiting for the release date. We can expect it to arrive in 2020.
