Thackeray directed by Abhijit Panse is a biopic film based on the life of Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray. It has been released at the box office today. Made on a moderate budget of Rs 30 cr, it will be interesting to see its collection. Besides Nawazuddin Siddiqui, it stars Amrita Rao in lead role. (check: Manikarnika 1st day collection.)

The movie starring Nawaz has got more of positive reviews from the critics. Now, it will be the audience who will decide whether this film will be a hit or flop or blockbuster. It’s of no doubt that the flick has already created a buzz among the moviegoers. As per the expectations of the trade analysts, it should its first day with a decent box office collection. The opening reports are indicating to the same direction. The film critic and trade expert Akshaye Rathi has said that Thackeray collection should be somewhere around Rs 5 cr on its first Friday. It has got a major release in Maharashtra and two versions – Hindi and Marathi. Both are being anticipated by the movie lovers.

Opening Collection – Rs 5 cr

Another analyst Sumit Kadel has said that Thackeray has got a good number of screens and thus, it should be able to generate a decent amount at the box office on day 1. As far as its occupancy is concerned, the film has got an average of 35-40% occupancy rate in the Maratha region and 8% in other areas. However, it should improve as the day progresses as tomorrow is a holiday being Republic Day of India.

It is a biopic of a leader who had a cult following. The film shows Balasaheb’s courage, wisdom, and his journey from a journalist to a mass leader. Owing to a long first weekend, the film should perform really well at the box office. So, it may bring us a big surprise surpassing all expectations. We should be ready for it when the exact numbers arrive tomorrow.

A day before its release, on Thursday’s evening, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut organized a special screening which was attended by Udhav Thackeray, many celebrities, political leaders, and closed ones of Bal Thackeray. The film also stars Abdul Kadir Ameen and Sudhir Mishra in supporting roles.
