Akshay Kumar starrer Good Newwz (Good News) is making very good collection at the box office. This Bollywood film has minted over Rs 39.34 crores in the first two days. Besides Akshay, the movie also stars Kareena Kapoor Khan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Kiara Advani in lead roles.
As per the trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the flick is living up to its title. The comedy film is performing well in the Northern parts of the country. It is performing outstandingly well in the multiplexes of tier 2 cities. On its 1st day (Friday), it collected Rs 17.56 cr followed by Rs 21.78 cr on its 2nd day (Saturday).
As per the early expectations, Good Newwz should cross the mark of Rs 65 crores in its 1st weekend collection. Upon its opening, Good Newz received mixed reviews from movie critics. It features the stories of two couples who try to get the IVF treatment. Their eggs and sperm get mixed as both share the last name.
The hospital staff does this in confusion. So, it leads up to a comedy of errors. Raj Mehta directorial has been produced by Karan Johar, Hiroo Yash Johar, Aruna Bhatia, Apoorva Mehta and Shashank Khaitan.
On its third day, Good Newwz opened to a good occupancy of 40% on an average as far as the morning shows are concerned. It was 25% on Friday and 30% on Saturday. Later on, in the afternoon and evening shows, it increased to 65-70%. Thus, paving the way for an amazing first weekend.
It has registered a jump of around 25% over Saturday. In the first two days, the film has collected $2.3 million (Rs 16.43 cr) in the first 2 days from the overseas market. It means that Good Newz will be able to collect somewhere around Rs 27 crores. Thus, making its 3 days total collection at the box office to Rs 65+ cr.
So, it has made over Rs 94 crores worldwide. It stands at number 7 in the list of highest 3 day weekend of 2019. It’s 2nd highest for Akshay after Mission Mangal in the first three days collection. The film has been made on a budget of Rs 105 cr and released on 3800 screens worldwide.
