Much disappointing for the fans of the book series ‘A Song Of Ice And Fire’ that the sixth book in this series i.e. ‘The Winds Of Winter‘ is largely incomplete. Therefore, the commitment made by George RR Martin long ago to make the book available for the readers by July or August this year which made the fans excited is about to go in vain. The commitment of completion:
When the New Zealand Airlines even proposed to him with a chance to fly across their country for absolutely free to complete writing his sixth book in the book series ‘A Song Of Ice And Fire’, Martin again promised to finish ‘The Winds Of Winter’ by May 2019.
He did not really accept the offer saying that he would prefer the Airlines to offer these kind of chances who need them the most as buying tickets to fly around is not a big deal for him and he could have done that anytime. He said these words even after knowing that New Zealand could be even one of the best places for him to complete writing the book.
He admits that he is kind of fond of New Zealand because the views and environment there are too pleasing which could actually help him in writing. The author then promised to finish ‘The Winds of Winter’ as soon as possible for him after giving his reasons to deny the offer of the New Zealand Airlines.
He even went to this extent that he wrote a post entry titled “Thanks, New Zealand” on his ‘Not A Blog’ page which said that they could even get themselves a written permission from him formally to imprison him in a small cabin on White Island, ignoring the sulphuric acid lake, till he is finished with writing in case he doesn’t have ‘The Winds Of Winter’ book completed with him when he reaches New Zealand for the Worldcon. He would not mind unless the acrid fumes do not mess up with his old DOS word processor.
Increased waiting time period for the fans:
Finally, it seems that George RR Martin actually needs to be sent to a small cabin on White Island which he did mention before to complete ‘The Winds Of Winter’ as he seems to about to break his promise again just like the many times he did before. The book may be delayed more by him because he needs to bring some required changes to the ending of the story.
Almost everyone seems to know about the ending of the TV series ‘Game of Thrones’ which was originally based on the series of ‘ASOIAF’ books. Its ending in the TV series did already conclude. That is why its ending in book is supposed to be affected. T
he focus of the storybase of the TV series turned a lot from that of the original ‘The Winds Of Winter’ storyline. His version is supposed to be rather much more different and interesting from the ending in ‘GoT’. The book might not be able to make it to the publishing house in the claimed time because there is still some re-work being done on its ending.
The makers of ‘GoT’ did take the show to another level of popularity. To keep the love of the fans from fading, they did bring major changes to its story to wind it up much faster which made its ending much more different than how it could possibly be in the book series.
This action of the makers of the show was very much unexpected by the author. He told this to the people from a German national daily newspaper named Die Welt.
Therefore, he is again busy modifying the storyline presented in ‘GoT’ because he desires to make his book different and unique. All this process of going through these situations and circumstances to alter them all is possibly gonna consume more time contributing to the delay in the completion of ‘The Winds Of Winter’.
