Batman v Superman director Zack Synder had confirmed plans for the upcoming Wonder Woman 2 even before the first film of Patty Jenkins had hit the screens. Gadot confirmed that the filming has wrapped in December 2018. So, here’s everything that you would like to know about the anticipated sequel like premiere date, cast, trailer, spoilers, etc.

Wonder Woman 1984 release date: When is its premiere?

Despite moving the date back two times, Gadot didn’t seem upset. Instead, she looked even more confident, and said that it has finally moved to its rightful home. At first, the director Jenkins agreed for the postponing, but recently, she jokingly backpedalled and said she wants it to be released sooner.

As per the reports, the crew has started on the third film too.

Wonder Woman 1984 cast: Who’s going to return?

Of course, it won’t be possible without Gal Gadot who has been already signed for the next film in the franchise. As seen in the first look poster, she will be seen in the famous Gold Armour. Former Game of Thrones (GoT) and Narcos star Pedro Pascal will play an undisclosed character.

The fan theories suggest that he will be playing DC Comics villain Maxwell Lord, who is a ruthless industrialist who uses his vast fortune to amass influence and power. But, Jenkins has also confirmed that Kristen Wiig will be playing the film’s villain, the Cheetah – the iconic Wonder Woman villain.

The cast members, technically, the characters from the first film will be dead from old age being mortal. So, we would not see any of them unless there is some flashback or they have lived magically. It means that Said Taghmaoui, Ewen Bremner, and Eugene Brave Rock are practically over.

As per a rumor, Chris Pine will be back as Steve Trevor. Moreover, the director has also confirmed it herself. So, it doesn’t remain a rumor now. However, there are still obstacles on his way to the back, the biggest of them would be he would be dead by then. He may return in flashbacks. Or is it Time travel?

It could also be a resurrection storyline as well. It’s also plausible that the makers have gone the way of Wonder Woman TV show, in which Pine is actually Steve Trevor Jr, the son of Steve Trevor. Is it so? Well, we can’t say anything at this point of time.

We got to know that Chris Pine knew that he would be coming back in the next film as Patty told him while they were doing the first film. So, according to him, his return makes perfect sense.

Connie Nielsen returned as Queen Hippolyta for Justice League, so she can also be seen in Wonder Woman 1984. But, Robin Wright doesn’t seem to be returning as her role in Justice League was just a flashback to the dead General Antiope. So, she is probably not resurrecting.

Anyway, we are still going to see Hippolyta and Antiope in a flashback in the sequel as Wright was seen filming on the Spanish set. Diana has a many Justice League friends like Batman (Ben Affleck), Superman (Henry Cavill), and Flash (Ezra Miller) to name a few. So, they can also make some cameos.

And, classic TV Wonder Woman Lynda Carter will also be seen in the new film. Warner Bros said that they couldn’t manage to fit her in the first one. In April 2019, Gadot honored the original Wonder Woman’s Lynda Carter. She received a start on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Emma Thompson would also be playing a role. Besides all above, other important cast members include Natasha Rothwell (Love, Simon, HBO’s Insecure), Soundarya Sharma (Ranchi Diaries), Ravi Patel (Meet the Patels, Wrecked) and Gabriella Wilde (Carrie, The Three Musketeers). We don’t know their mystery roles yet, though.

Wonder Woman 1984 plot: What’s going to happen?

As viewers, we are going to see a time leap between the first and second films. The first Wonder Woman was set in 1918 at the end of World War 1, while the second movie is set in 80’s as the title itself reveals it. It will follow a Cold War narrative.

Well, it’s not exactly a sequel according to producer Charles Roven. Whatever he means, we are expecting a great movie from the makers. Former DCEU creative chief Geoff Johns shared the first official teaser, and it had the logo “WW84”.

Setting in 1980’s means that she is getting a true standalone movie. It’s the time before she encounters the likes of Batman and Superman. As per Jenkins, there is a reason for setting this film in this specific year, and it has nothing to do with George Orwell.

When the film arrives, its plot may even go back into the 60s. It may have something to do with behind-the-scenes snap of Gadot in which she is featured donned in all-white attire. The director had shared that photo. It may mean a stylistic nod to the past.

In Wonder Woman, Diana was based in the Louvre. But, the director has her eye to bring her in the United States, the home of superheroes. So, the most of the story will take place in the US itself. Per Jenkins, it’s the time that she should come to the Americas.

Coming up to the villain, Wonder Woman is going against her classic foe, Cheetah. She is a British archaeologist named Dr Barbara Ann Minerva, who is cursed to transform into a cheetah woman who hungers for human flesh. Speaking of the history, she has sometimes portrayed as an old friend of Diana who struggles against her unfortunate bloodlust.
