The first season of Mindhunter, a detective drama, released as a Netflix series in 2017. It’s story revolves around the inception of the FBI’s criminal profiling programme in the 1970s. The TV show brings two agents Holden Ford and Bill Tench of the bureau’s Behavioral Sciences as they try to understand patterns in murderous behavior by interviewing imprisoned serial killers.
The series stars Jonathan Groff and Holt McCallany. It was already renewed for a second season, even before the airing of the first one. It will release sometime this year. (Check: Timeless season 3 release date.)

As of now, we don’t know when will Mindhunter season 2 release on Netflix. The filming had already started back in May 2018. We can hope for its premiere in the first half of 2019.

Except the renewal for 2nd season, there has been no official word from the streaming giant, Netflix. Anything concrete information about the cast or plot is not released yet. Only a few things seem to have been slipped out.
In 2017, Fincher revealed that the second season will feature a notorious series of murders in Atlanta from 1979-81, in which 28 children, teens, and adults (African-American) lost their lives in the Georgian capital. For two of those killings, native Wayne Williams was convicted.
As per some reports, Australian actor Damon Herriman will portray Charles Manson. He has also been confirmed to play the infamous killer in Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming film – Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
In the end of season one, we got to see Ford’s methods being called into question by Wendy, Bill, and their boss. In the finale, a serial killer Ed Kemper bear hug him. But, after getting freed, he has a panic attack in the hall as he gets to realize how dangerous the situation had become.
The upcoming season will feature the fall-out of this. We are also expecting to see a better and more pragmatic approach to the study. In May last year, McCallany that we saw the glimpses of a real-life serial killer Dennis Rader aka the BTK Killer. We may also get to see more of him.
Who is in the Mindhunter season 2 cast?
Besides the original and main cast members, we will get to see Groff, McCallany, and Torv in the second season. We don’t for sure if we will get to see Britton reprising the role of Kemper. Once Upon A Time in the West star Damon Herriman will return as Charles Manson.
