Hey! you, the Poldark fans. We have got you a bad and a good news. The good news is that BBC has renewed it for a season 5, while the bad news is that it’s going to be the last installment of the series. The new is going to hit the screens some time in 2019 only. (Check: Rick and Morty Season 4.)
As of writing this, the exact date of release is not yet. The filming wrapped up in February 2019 only. It remains to be seen when Ross and Demelza return on television for the fans. Debbie Horsfield, the show’s creator confirmed that it will be the last one.

The fourth season was based on the seventh book of Winston Graham with the same name. It is being expected that the fifth installment will be an adaption of the next novel in the series, The Stranger from the Sea. According to Horsfield, the final series will feature the lives of the Poldarks and the Warleggans in the 10-year period between the events of books 7 and 8.
Horsfield added that The Stranger from the Sea has many references to developments that took place in the ‘gap’ years, and much of that can be concluded. So, there are many historical events and people of the time remained to be covered. It will include both Cornwall and London.
The upcoming season will show us the lives of the Poldarks, George Warleggan, the Enyses, and the Carnes of that period. The official synopsis has been released. It reads the following:
“It is a new century and with it comes the promise of a hopeful future, but the past casts a long shadow over Cornwall. Following the death of Elizabeth, Ross Poldark resolves to put Westminster behind him and spend more time with the people he loves. However, when an old friend emerges with a plea for help, Ross is compelled to challenge the establishment again. As the Enyses (Luke Norris and Gabriella Wilde) rally to join the cause, Demelza must contend with dangers close to home, while George (Jack Farthing) courts corrupt powers whose influence spans the Empire.”
Poldark season 5 cast: Who’s going to be in it?
It will, of course, bring back Ross and Demelza along with other familiar character couples like Dwight (Luke Norris) and Caroline Enys (Gabriella Wilde), Drake (Harry Richardson) & Morwenna Carne (Elise Chappell). It looks like George Warleggan (Jack Farthing) will be upcoming big bad.
Excluding the flashbacks, we are not going to see two people – Heida Reid as Elizabeth Warleggan and Christian Brassington as Osbrone Whitworth. It’s because both of them died in the last installment.
There will be new faces including Lily Dodsworth Evans (Genius), Kerri McLean (Electric Dreams), and Sofia Oxenham (Grantchester), Vincent Regan (300), Peter Sullivan (Entebbe) and Freddie Wise (Maleficent 2).
Poldark season 5 release date: When will it premiere?
There has been no official on the premiere date for s5. But, following the pattern of its previous releases, we can expect it to air this summer on BBC One. The filming started in September 2018 and wrapped up in February 2019.
