Total Dhamaal starring an ensemble cast of Bollywood stars, has beaten Gully Boy and Manikarnika to become the biggest 1st weekend grosser of 2019 at the box office. In the first 3 days, the third film in the Dhamal franchise has made a collection of Rs 62.40 crores.

It has earned more than Rs 60 crores in just three days of its release. The adventure-comedy directed by Indra Kumar features actors like Ajay Devgn, Madhuri Dixit, Anil Kapoor, Riteish Deshmukh, Arshad Warsi, and others. The first two films in the franchise are Dhamaal (2007) and Double Dhamaal (2011).

The film has minted more than the trade experts’ expectations. On an interesting note, the comedy film has beaten the much-hyped movie Gully Boy starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, in terms of first three days box office collections. It is faring steadily in the mass circuits.

Total Dhamaal saw an increase of 25% on Sunday compared to Saturday and 23.64% compared to Friday. It is a well-known saying that well begun is half done. Now, it needs to maintain the stability at the box office to emerge as a HIT film.

It earned Rs 16.50 crores on its first day, followed by Rs 20.40 crores on its second day. On the other hand, Ranveer’s Gully Boy opened with a collection of Rs 19.40 crores, followed by Rs 13.10 crores and Rs 18.65 cr on its first Saturday and Sunday respectively. It made a total collection of Rs 51.15 crores in the first weekend/3 days.

It should be noted that Gully Boy was released on Thursday instead of Friday. in the first four days, it made Rs 72.45 cr (from Thursday to Sunday) in India.

Total Dhamaal has a huge star cast including Sonakshi Sinha, Jaaved Jaffery, Boman Irani, Sanjay Mishra, Vijay Patkar, Johny Lever, Esha Gupta, Mahesh Manjrekar, and Sudesh Lahiri. It is made on a budget of Rs 105 crores. Additionally, Madhuri and Anil have shared the on-screen space after 19 years. They were last seen together in Rajkumar Santoshi’s Lajja in 2001.

Speaking of Total Dhamaal’s 4th day, the film has started on a slow note as far as the morning shows are concerned. It has registered a drop in occupancy which is acceptable and expected at the same time. However, it will see increase as the day progresses.

On Monday, Total Dhamaal has registered an average occupancy of around 15% in the morning shows. It was 25% on Friday, and thus it has witnessed a drop of around 40% on Monday compared to Friday.

A decent hold on fourth day will make Total Dhamaal a box office hit. It has made a collection of Rs 9.85 crores on Monday. Thus, making its 4 days total to Rs 72.25 crores.

Speaking of overseas collections, it has made $3.410 million (~Rs 24.16 crores) with USA+Canada: $ 981k and UAE+GCC: $ 1.12 mn contributing the majority of the amount.
